Wasteland 2 - Linux and Mac versions confirmed

While the Kickstarter for Wasteland 2 hasn't reached $1.5 million yet (but is expected to reach it very soon), Brian Fargo has already confirmed that the game will indeed be released for the Linux and Mac platforms alongside the Windows version.

Additionally, as the initial Kickstarter goal has been reached, inXile has opened a page which allows PayPal users to pledge money towards the project as well, thus allowing gamers who do not have a credit card to help make the game come true.

With $1.5 million, Wasteland 2 will get Linux and Mac versions

On the launch of the Kickstarter for Wasteland 2, inXile promised that the game will be ported to Mac OSX if they go over the $900,000 target and gather $1,500,000 for development of the game.

Now, Brian Fargo has tweeted that if that threshold is reached, the game will not only get a Mac version, but also a Linux one. If $1,500,000 is exceeded, an iPad version of the game is also a possibility.

Additionally, Fargo announced that Liz Danforth, one of the designers of the original Wasteland is yet another original team member to join the development of Wasteland 2.

Wasteland 2 Kickstarter launched

The Kickstarter page for Wasteland 2, Brian Fargo's sequel to the 1988 post-nuclear classic, has just been launched. The game will be funded if at least $900,000 is pledged by Tuesday, April 17. The goal was initially going to be $1,000,000, but Fargo declared that he'll contribute $100,000 out of his own pocked if needed.

Rewards for contributors range from a downloadable version of the game + a bonus item and skill for $15 through a plethora of physical goodies, and up to an invitation to a private party hosted by the developers and a shrine in your name erected within the game for $10,000.

For those of you who don't know it, Wasteland was the predecessor to the more popular Fallout series. The only reason the original Fallout was not named Wasteland 2 was the fact that at that time it was EA, not Interplay, that held the rights to the original.

We're happy to invite everyone to join the official Wasteland 2 Wiki, hosted by The Vault. While our main focus will be the upcoming sequel, we're still very much covering the original Wasteland as well. Currently, among other things, we're working on a comprehensive Wasteland 2 FAQ. I'm sure that together we'll be able to create the best guide to the Wasteland games and universe, just like we have for Fallout.

Note: We carried over the contents of the Wasteland Wiki that I originally founded at Wikia, so if you want to reclaim your account from that wiki, you can do it via the account migration tool.

Wasteland 2 website is live!

Brian Fargo has announced that the official website for Wasteland 2, the official sequel to the gamethat Fallout was originally meant to be the sequel to (might seem confusing, I know) is now live!

Additionally, Ken St. Andre has joined the development team, which means that all 4 of the original Wasteland designers are now on board - Brian Fargo, Alan Pavlish, Ken St. Andre and Michael A. Stackpole.

The Kickstarter page for the project, which will allow fans to help fund the game, should be up later this week, as will The Vault's wiki for Wasteland and Wasteland 2!

The March Gaming Bracket Challenge presented by Curse and Alienware is a tournament that pits random video game characters against one another!
Each week in March we will be matching up characters from your favorite Curse Network fansites; from Skyrim to Starcraft, Fallout to Minecraft. Who gets through to the next round is up to you since your votes decide who rises up and who falls in this arena! The Fallout characters taking part in the match are Craig Boone and Veronica Santangelo, two of Fallout: New Vegas companions.

The Wasteland sequel officially named Wasteland 2

As No Mutants Allowed reports, it has been officially confirmed that the new Wasteland project, which is to be funded via Kickstarter and developed by the original developers of this 1988 predecessor to Fallout, will indeed be named Wasteland 2. Stay tuned for the Kickstarter for the game to start soon!

We're also in the process of bringing the Wasteland Wiki here to Curse, and intend to cover the game as thoroughly as we have covered all Fallout titles.
